Volunteer Qualifications

Volunteers must be willing to provide two references, which will be checked prior to the beginning of your volunteer experience at Mobile Meals. These references may be clergy, current/former employers or volunteer directors, current Mobile Meals volunteers, or personal references.

There is no age limit for Mobile Meals volunteers. (We are quite proud to say that our oldest volunteer is nearly 89!) However, we require that a parent or guardian accompany children under the age of 18 when they are delivering meals, representing us at a fair or event, and/or working in our office.

Drivers must have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance. These two items will be photocopied and included in your volunteer file. Mobile Meals has liability and personal accident coverage when meals are being delivered.

Training is provided to all new volunteers prior to start of their volunteer experience. Initial training takes place in our office, and then “in the field” training is completed with a staff member.

Please refer to our Volunteer Position Descriptions (for Trenton or Ewing) for more detail about responsibilities of meal delivery volunteers.
