About The Program

Mobile Meals of Trenton/Ewing provides daily, home-delivered meals to individuals who are homebound and/or unable to shop or prepare meals for themselves. These “meals-on-wheels” are delivered by volunteers five days per week. The meals are prepared at Capital Health System Mercer Campus and ARC Mercer, and up to three meals per day area available.

Meal Delivery

Meals are delivered once daily by volunteers. Trenton clients receive meals between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. In Ewing, meals are delivered between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Clients are asked to remain home during these hours for delivery – meals normally come at approximately the same time each day, but may vary occasionally. If a client is not home or does not answer the door, volunteers will not leave a meal. Instead, a “Sorry We Missed You Note” is left, indicating that volunteers attempted to deliver a meal but there was no response. Mobile Meals staff are notified and will follow up with the client and/or their emergency contact person. No further meals are delivered until the client contacts our office.

These are delivered by volunteers at meal delivery time. These items are courtesy of Mercer Street Friends Food Bank, and come from the USDA TEFAP program (clients qualify based on income at 185% of poverty level or less) and the State Food Purchase Program (clients qualify based on residency in State of New Jersey).
  • “Blizzard Boxes”

A “meal” in a shoebox is delivered to clients during the winter months in case of inclement weather that may close our office. “Blizzard Boxes” are also delivered prior to holiday weekends or days the office will be closed. Donations of low sodium, easy to open items to stock these boxes, as well as clean shoeboxes, are accepted at our office.
  • Pet Food

Periodic; donations of cat and dog food.
  • Adult Protective Underwear
